Who We Are

Philly Junk Removal is a locally owned and operated junk hauling business based in Philadelphia, PA. We're not a franchise — we're a crew that lives and works in this city, serving the neighborhoods we're familiar with from personal experience. Our address is 2600 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125, and we serve the full Philadelphia metro including Bensalem, Levittown, Cherry Hill, Camden, Northeast Philadelphia, and Abington.

We started this business because we saw a gap in how junk removal was done in Philadelphia specifically. Most national junk removal franchises price by phone, show up, revise the number when they see the actual pile, and send whatever crew is available that day. We built our business around a different model: on-site estimates, written quotes, consistent crew, and a genuine donation-first commitment rather than a marketing slogan.

Why Philadelphia Is Different

Philadelphia's row house stock requires skills and techniques that most junk removal operations don't develop because most operations don't work primarily in row houses. We do. The physical demands of a Philadelphia row house cleanout — navigating furniture through hallways narrower than the furniture itself, carrying refrigerators up basement staircases, moving queen mattresses around tight staircase landings on the second and third floors — are things we do daily.

We've also developed specific knowledge of how Philadelphia's housing types accumulate. A row house in Fishtown or Kensington that's been in one family since the 1950s has a different cleanout profile than a Bensalem colonial from 1975 or a Levittown ranch from 1958. Understanding what to expect when we walk through the door allows us to quote accurately, staff the right crew size, and get the job done efficiently without surprises for the customer.

Our Commitment to Donation First

Donation-first isn't a tagline for us — it's a sorting discipline that we apply on every job. Before anything goes on the truck for disposal, we sort for donation. Furniture in usable condition. Clothing and linens. Books and media. Kitchen items and housewares. Electronics that work. Tools and equipment.

We know the standards of our Philadelphia-area charity partners, so we don't send them items they can't use — and we don't call it a donation when the charity will reject the item on arrival. What we commit to donating, we actually donate. And we provide itemized donation receipts on request so customers can document the charitable contribution for tax purposes.

Why does this matter? Because in Philadelphia — a city with significant economic inequality — functional household items that leave one home can materially improve another household's situation. The furniture from a Torresdale estate cleanout can furnish an apartment for someone rebuilding their life. The clothing from a Frankford row house clearout can clothe someone who needs it. We think that matters, and we act accordingly.

How We Quote — Honestly

We don't quote on the phone. Not because we can't — because phone quotes are almost always wrong, and wrong phone quotes create an adversarial relationship between customer and crew when the actual number is different from what was discussed.

The way we quote: we visit your address, walk through every space that has items to be removed, assess the actual load volume, and give you a written quote on the spot. The number you approve is the number you pay. We don't revise the quote when the truck is loaded. We don't add surcharges for heavy items, stairs, or difficult access — those factors are visible during the walkthrough and priced into the quote accordingly.

This is more work for us than a phone-quote model. It's also the only honest way to do it. A phone quote for a basement clearout that turns out to be half again the estimated volume either leaves the crew unpaid for the work or the customer feeling overcharged at the end. We eliminate both outcomes by seeing the job before we quote it.

Licensed and Insured

We carry general liability insurance for every job we do. Working in tight Philadelphia spaces — narrow staircases, low-clearance basements, alley garages — creates real risk of property damage if the crew isn't careful and if the insurance isn't in place when something goes wrong. We're careful, and we're covered.

Our certificate of insurance is available on request before any job. We don't ask customers to simply trust us on this — we can prove coverage before we start work.
